Changi Airport Passenger Volume exceeds 100,000 on three consecutive days in October
Passenger traffic in October rose to 2.75 million, marking a 7.3 per cent year-on-year growth. Daily passenger traffic hit record high as more than 100,000 passengers passed through Changi daily on three consecutive days over the long Deepavali weekend.
In total, Changi Airport hosted some 26,526,623 million passengers between January and October this year. Compared to the same period last year, this is a healthy increase of 7.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, Changi Airport’s airfreight volume also continued to rise steadily as 170,118 tonnes of air cargo was processed in October 2005. Airfreight volume for the month of October grew by 5.5 per cent from a year ago and 11 per cent from two years back.
Between January and October 2005, Changi Airport handled 1.5 million tonnes of airfreight. This is 2.4 per cent higher than the same period last year, and a 13 per cent jump over 2003.
As at 1 November 2005, there are 83 airlines connecting Singapore to over 175 cities in more than 57 countries with some 4,000 weekly flights.
